EdgeMed Life Savers

Everyone can learn to save a life. Life Savers is a CPR and first aid curriculum for Primary, JHS and SHS, and now for adults, churches and workplaces, written by emergency physicians and based on the 2025 international resuscitation guidelines. Teachers lead short lessons; pupils practise the skills, answer a quiz on any phone or computer, and earn a Life Saver certificate.

Why start in school?

When someone's heart stops, the people nearby are the ones who can keep them alive until help arrives. Bystander CPR and early defibrillation can double to quadruple the chance of survival. The 2025 European resuscitation guidelines recommend CPR teaching from early childhood and every year in school, and the World Health Organization has endorsed the "Kids Save Lives" call for two hours of CPR training a year for schoolchildren. Pupils also take what they learn home to their families.

How it works

  1. The school takes a licence for one year or more, for the levels it needs and the number of pupils.
  2. EdgeMed sets up the teachers (any teacher with an EdgeMed account; it is free to create one).
  3. Teachers create classes and type in pupils' names. Each pupil gets a personal code; no pupil email or phone number is needed.
  4. Lessons in class: each lesson has teacher notes, a classroom display mode, a hands-on activity and, for CPR, a built-in beat to keep the right speed. Manikins are best, but the teacher notes explain how to practise on a firm cushion or rolled towel.
  5. Pupils take the quiz on a school computer, a tablet or a parent's phone, using their code.
  6. The teacher signs off the practical skills. When a pupil has passed every quiz for their level and the practical, their certificate is ready to print, with a number anyone can check online.

For families: is your school not on Life Savers yet?

Get it at home. You act as the teacher: add your children's names, give them their codes, and they learn on their own phone, tablet or computer. You watch them practise on a firm cushion or rolled towel and sign off their skills.
